OPET

The Opet Mersin Buoy Facility is located approximately 2 km off the coast of Mersin, positioned to allow large-tonnage tankers to maneuver safely. The facility enables tankers up to 50,000 DWT to berth thanks to its dual buoy system. With depths reaching up to -18 meters, it allows ships of different tonnage groups to load and unload safely.

The buoy system is connected to the land terminal via subsea pipelines, ensuring high-volume and rapid transfer of crude oil and derivative products. This enables a continuous and safe flow of products to the storage units at the coastal facilities.

Operations are conducted 24 hours a day in accordance with international safety standards and are supported by firefighting, environmental protection, and emergency response equipment. With this structure, the Opet Mersin Buoy Facility is a critical center not only for the Mediterranean region but also for Turkey's energy logistics, playing a strategic role in the country's fuel supply chain.

Under the MDG Code, our Port Facility handles the loading and unloading of hazardous liquid bulk cargoes (petroleum and petroleum products) including Diesel Fuel (UN 1202), Gasoline (UN 1203), and Jet A-1 (UN 1863).

Pilotage is compulsory for mooring and unmooring, day or night. The pilot will meet vessels in the anchorage area 2 miles south of the end of the quay. After the vessel has berthed, the Pilot/Loading Master remains on board and requires a separate cabin.
