GIRESUN PORT

Giresun Port (UN/LOCODE: TRGIR), located on Turkey’s Black Sea coast in the city of Giresun, functions as an important regional maritime gateway. The port is protected by two breakwaters, and accommodates a variety of cargo types including general cargo, bulk, agricultural exports, and limited container traffic.

In terms of dimensions, the cargo piers are quoted to have depths ranging from about 7.1 to 9.1 meters (23 to 30 feet) while channel depths are reported to exceed 23.2 m in certain zones (though that figure may refer to anchorage or approach sea area rather than usable quay depth). According to maritime listings, the port’s maximal vessel parameters include a draft limit of 8.0 meters, maximum length overall (LOA) of ~250 m, and a DWT up to about 8,920 tons.

Giresunport occupies a compact but functional layout, with modern infrastructure for loading and unloading operations, fixed and mobile cranes (lifting capacities mostly in the 0–24 metric ton range), and open storage / warehousing zones. The port emphasizes its role in supporting agricultural and regional export logistics in the Eastern Black Sea area.

Pilotage is compulsory for vessels entering the port, and standard maritime services—tug support, mooring, supplies, communications—are available to support vessel operations.

With its strategic position, adequate quay facilities, and flexibility across cargo types, Giresun Port plays a key role in linking the northeastern Anatolian region to Black Sea trade routes.
